This four-day workshop is designed for participants with no previous Rorschach training or experience.  It will also be useful for clinicians and teachers with training and/or experience in previous Rorschach systems who want a very thorough "hands on" introduction to the Rorschach Performance Assessment System (R-PAS). 

This workshop alternates between lecture, presentations, and interactive experience with every aspect of R-PAS administration, coding, and interpretation.

Learning Objectives:

1. Administer the Rorschach according to the Rorschach Performance Assessment System with a cooperative and competent response.
2. Optimize the length of Rorschach protocols and ask clarification questions.
3. Document and Transcribe the Rorschach record as prescribed by Rorschach Performance Assessment System.
4. Formulate basic interpretations for Rorschach record according to the Rorschach performance Assessment System.

 
To prepare for the R-PAS Basic Workshop,  attendees should  read Chapters 1, 2, and 3 of the R-PAS Manual  (The Rorschach Performance Assessment System, Administration, Coding, Interpretation and Technical Manual, Meyer, Viglione, Mihura, Erard, & Erdberg, 2011).

Following is a schedule for this four-day workshop.  

Day 1 – Morning --  8:30 AM -- Registration --

9:00am - Noon --  Introduction to R-PAS - What is R-PAS? Rationale, foundation, basic administration procedures, coding - lecture

Afternoon -- 1:30 to 5pm - Coding -- lecture and small group practice

Day 2 – Morning --  8:30 AM - Noon -- coding  lecture and small group practice

            Afternoon -- 1:30 to 5pm - Administration (Response Phase, documentation, introduction to Clarification Phase) - lecture and small group practice

Day 3 – Morning --  8:30 AM - Noon -- Administration (Clarification Phase, introduction to the web-based data entry program) -- lecture and small group practice

            Afternoon -- 1:30 to 5pm - Introduction to interpretation - understanding the R-PAS output - lecture and small group practice

Day 4 – Morning --  8:30 AM - 11:30 -- Interpretation - case example - lecture and small group practice

            Afternoon -- 1:30 to 3pm - Interpretation (continued) - summarizing R-PAS date and generating interventions recommendations - lecture.

Faculty – Both Dr. Erdberg and Dr. Viglione are members of the R-PAS development team and co-authors of the R-PAS Manual.

Philip Erdberg PhD, ABPP -- Dr. Erdberg is a diplomate in clinical psychology of the American Board of Professional Psychology.  He is a past-president of the Society for Personality Assessment, the 1995 recipient of the Society's Distinguished Contribution Award, and the 2001 recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Forensic Mental Health Association of California.  Dr. Erdberg is on the faculty of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and is an associate clinical professor at the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine.

Donald Viglione Ph.D., ABAP -- Dr. Viglione is a Distinguished Professor at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University and past director of both the Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs in clinical psychology there.  He has more than 30 years of experience teaching the Rorschach and has more than 80 publications.  His assessment research focuses on the Rorschach and includes work on malingering, trauma, violence, child, and psychometric issues.  He has offered Rorschach workshops internationally and is a Fellow of the Society for Personality Assessment.
